Subject: Tom Beckley on how CDNS Clarity is successfully taking on Ansys HFSS
                     The live DAC'22 Troublemakers Panel

Cooley: Tom. In 2019, Anirudh declared war against Ansys HFSS by
launching Clarity. Clarity is in your division.

Beckley: Yes, it is.

Cooley: How can you compete against an entrenched incumbent, Ansys HFSS,
with a 30-year lead like that? Cadence launched Clarity in 2019.

What's happened in that 3 year time frame since then?
Beckley: It was actually launched toward the end of 2019. And I can tell
you that we, Cadence, went out ... and you actually had multiple
user reports on DeepChip on Clarity.

 Cooley: Right.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Here's the nine Clarity vs HFSS benchmarks on DeepChip
    that Tom is talking about:

"It's results, NOT algorithms, dummy!"; Clarity vs. HFSS benchmark

And now a 9th hands-on CDNS Clarity vs. ANSS HFSS user benchmark

Beckley: I think the data that we are showing -- because Clarity was fully
distributed and massively paralyzed -- we are showing much, much
higher capacity than HFSS and we are also showing the same accuracy
         as HFSS.
But you do not have to parse the design, right? Didn't have to
do these pseudo-limits and divide it up, and then worry about
         those boundaries like with HFSS.
Cooley: So you do automatic partitioning, is what you're saying?

Beckley: The truth is that from IP to chip to package the board to the
entire system -- all the lines are blurring. And so, you have to
extract as large a portion as you can of that design to really
         understand what's going on.

And that's what our Clarity allows you to do.
I would say, if you look at Geoffrey Moore's Crossing the Chasm, we
         are way beyond early adopter.

 Cooley: Who are your customers?

Beckley: Well, we've announced some.

 Cooley: Ok, which ones?

Beckley: That includes people like MediaTek and the Renesas and others,
         right.

We are talking not dozens of customers anymore -- we're talking to
lots and lots of customers. We're really happy with them. It's
not just that bleeding edge technologies is needed by everyone.
Beckley: Our Cadence 3D-IC is an integrated solution -- which crosses those
boundaries from chip to package to the board -- is really critical.

Cooley: Yeah, the tool sets I've seen going on there. It's going back and
         forth.
And watching Synopsys and Ansys do that is kind of odd because there
are holes in their flow. It's intercompany things where you need to
         work with three different companies.

Beckley: Right.
