Hi, John,
I was surprised to see Manhattan Routing's name in the DFM/DFY section of
Pallab's post-DAC reporting. I spoke to him briefly at DAC and talked about
our Physical Window/Optimization Cockpit timing closure solution. Our
current offering has nothing whatsoever to do with DFM/DFY! I am not sure
what more I could have said to make sure he understood, except specifically
stating that we are NOT currently a DFM/DFY solution.
The rest of his column when he is discussing us and several other companies
sends absolutely the wrong message about us and what we do. It is like
reviewing a Ducati motorcycle against sportscars and finding that no
car-mechanics ever have heard about the Ducati vehicle. No surprise! For
example, his comment about "...the guys in this approach are unknowns to the
mask people" is probably true for any mask people working in the DFM/DFY
space since this is not what we are targeting.
Further: "They don't have tapeouts nor is there any direct correlation
between their approach and real silicon" is definitely wrong. Our PW/OC has
been used in more than 20 tape-outs, both by our customers and our own
services organization.
Finally: "It's all vaporware" tells me that he did not take the time to
understand what we do. Just look at our tools, our customers, and the way
we are adding real value to designs all over North America.
