Hi, John,
This memo was sent internally inside MENT today to its Catapult C people:
"Effective on August 31, 2011, the High Level Synthesis organization,
which produces Catapult C, will become part of a new entity with
Calypto Design Systems.
As part of this move, the majority of the team, which is primarily
based in Wilsonville, will become employees of Calypto. Mentor will
be a majority shareholder in Calypto, and will be represented on the
board by Brian Derrick and John Lenyo.
Employees in the US were informed of this change today. Employees in
Cairo and India will be informed tomorrow.
Effective immediately, FPGA Synthesis, which produces Precision, will
become part of SDD. FPGA Synthesis and the BSD group within SDD share
a very similar set of customers, which, combined with Henry's track
record of successful leadership, provides an opportunity to reinvigorate
this product area.
Also effective immediately, the Design Creation product line will become
part of ESD. Glenn's experience with this set of technologies and
marketplace, and commonalities in targeting software designers, make
this a promising partnership. Design Creation includes multiple
products, including HDL Designer, Visual Elite, Certe, ReqTracer, and
Vista.
As a result of these changes, the DCS division will cease to exist as
a standalone entity.
We wish to thank Simon Bloch for his years of service and leadership of
a suite of products that have competed in tough market segments.
Simon's last day with Mentor will be in early September.
Effective immediately, Guy Moshe, who heads the Design Creation team,
will report to Glenn Perry.
Jacob Greidinger (Engineering Director, FPGA Synthesis) and Daniel
Platzker (Marketing Director, FPGA Synthesis) will report to Henry
Potts, who will be acting GM for the FPGA Synthesis product line."
Please keep me anonymous on this.

Editor's Note: This general rumor has been confirmed by three different
sources who have been accurate before. One of these three sources said
that this was a no-money-deal. That is, Mentor *traded* its Catapult C
division to Calypto in exchange for majority Calypto ownership. - John
