Subject: Cadence CMO seeks user & vendor feedback on CDNS EDA360 proposal

From: John Bruggeman [Cadence CMO]
To: John Cooley [DeepChip]

Hey John,

Sending a copy of the EDA360 vision paper your way. Now that it's
live on paper, we want to go broad with it. Our goal in writing the
paper is to transform EDA from a "business as usual" $5 billion-a-year
to a crazy-growth $25 billion-a-year industry. How? By expanding
into some new market segments and tapping emerging trends. We know
this shift can't just happen by Cadence alone and the participation
of the EDA ecosystem including our traditional competitors as well as
the EDA user base is critical to reaching the end game the vision
talks about.

Could you please post this paper in the DeepChip.com "Downloads"
section and publish the responses you get about it?

Huh? Are you sure you want to do this? I have no idea what people
are going to say about your idea. They can be pretty brutal. You
might not hear exactly what you want to hear on this....

I've lived the world of Open Source for a long time; I'm used to
customers being blunt. I learned well -- we're only as good as the
community we build. This reason is why I want the user responses to
go to you and have you publish them on DeepChip -- this community
approach ensures input is open because it's 100% out of Cadence
control.

The way I see it, it's our turn now for honest feedback -- to listen
how people respond; to see what needs further explanation and what
needs course correction. Being this open is the only way we can hope
to get industry "buy in". We want EDA360 to be something everyone
participates in -- it's not just a Cadence thing.

So you want both EDA *user* and EDA *vendor* feedback on this, yes?

Yep, and they can be super-stealth anonymous -- you know, standard
DeepChip practice. The only thing I ask is that it's clear on whether
it's a user or a vendor responding; beyond that, stealth is all good
with me.
