Subject: Gary Meyers, former Synplicity prez rumored to be replaced at SNPS
FYI -- I've heard a rumor from a source with a good track record that the
head of the Synplicity Business Group inside Synopsys, Gary Meyers, is
going to be replaced by Joachim Kunkel in a reorg next week.
From the Synopsys executive bios page:
"Gary Meyers joined Synopsys in May 2008 with the acquisition of
Synplicity and is currently the vice president and general manager
of the Synplicity Business Group. In this capacity, he is
responsible for the development of Synopsys FPGA implementation
tools, DSP synthesis tools, and the Confirma rapid prototyping
solution featuring the HAPS FPGA platform.
Prior to Synopsys, he served as president and CEO of Synplicity since
October 2004 where he re-focused the company on its core FPGA products,
improved operating margins from 1% in 2003 to over 10% in 2006,
expanded international R&D efforts, and grew market share and customer
satisfaction. He was also VP, Worldwide Sales, from 1999-2004 at
Synplicity, and was instrumental in increasing sales by more than
a factor of ten and expanding the direct sales team throughout
North America, Europe and Asia."
What the whole rumor states is that the Synplicity division is going to be
reorged under the Synopsys ESL & IP division (which Joachim heads) thus
making Gary redundant.
And, no, this is not an April Fool's joke; it's just a rumor from a sole
source with a past record of being accurate.
