The Wiretap Intercept No. 090604
opinions and skeptical speculations too small to fit into an Industry Gadfly column

A few days ago I recieved some emails from EDA vendors wishing to remain
anonymous asking me to "find out the real story behind EDAC's cancelled
public June 11th meeting."

Always on the look out for corruption and conspiracy in EDA, I immediately
phoned Bob Gardner, Executive Director of EDAC, with my investigative
reporter's hat on. When I got Bob on the phone, I quickly sensed a strong
apprehension on his part. He OBVIOUSLY was hiding some deep dark secret
from the public. I pushed him hard and he cracked:

"Some time ago we sent out an emailer for the June 11th meeting asking for
an RSVP," Bob nervously confessed. "We got only one positive response."

"We found out that Californians were fanatics about celebrating every
possible graduation their children go through," said Bob. "Be it college,
pre-school, kindergarden, 6th grade, 8th grade, high school, boy scouts,
campfire girls, Sunday school, Catholic confirmations, Bar/Bat Mitzvah's,
or Quinceanera's -- California parents won't let anything get in the way
of their kid's graduation ceremony and the follow-up party."

"You'd be surprized how many Bris's happen in June," added Bob. "I didn't
even know what one was until last week."

"We knew this was a battle we couldn't win. Only a fool would try to go
up against a California parent's opportunity to publically brag about their
kid, no matter how trivial his/her 'achievement' is. So we had to cancel
our June 11th meeting and reschedule to meet at DAC instead," concluded Bob.
