Assura RCX developer class was very useful.

  Fire & Ice was so-so

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

I took a class on RTL Compiler and Cadence formal tools recently. The
class and lab was well structured. The instructors were knowledgable
  and helpful.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Not in the last twelve months but I have in the past. They weren't too
bad. A little bit to "canned" but I did learn quite a bit.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Y, First Encounter, CeltIC. Pretty helpful

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  FE, VHDL. Very helpful.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

No - I want bg_shell but a human instructor lead Cadence classes will
not be opened becuase there are under 6 people how needs it! How many
  people use bg_shell ?

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Yes. CeltIC. The class was very helpful.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

No classes lately. But the classes that I have taken there (over the
past few years) all qualified as a complete waste of time. I'm going
to go take an RC class soon -- I'm not looking forward to it. Maybe I
could just pay a college student to attend and bring back the course
materials for me. That would surely be as valuable.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  Nope, no budget

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Yes, for Substrate Noise Analyst. The class was so-so. It was 2 days
and the real learning material was 1/2 day worth. The labs were not
advanced enough to teach real methodologies. All examples were very
  basic.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  SpecctraQuest.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

All instructor-led classes were at ICU, and they were all good. In my
  case: Virtuoso-XL, OpenAccess

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Yes, I took classes for Virtuoso, XL, and Diva. The classes are well
worth it, since you can't find it in the manuals. I did learn a lot of
nice undocumented tricks and could ask about specific problems I
  currently faced.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  Verplex. so-so

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Yes, tutorials at ICUG. (Advanced PCELL) Ted Paone and Jack Wild give
great classes and know what they are talking about. Anytime I take a
class with them again. (You can mention both of the names, they
  deserve it.)

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  Many tools. so-so.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Yes. We took for SocEncounter. In terms of initiation they were helpful,
but for more than that, which was required, it was pretty lame.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Took one recently. Seemed to be more of a tutoring class than actual
  real life experience.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

SoCE. Helpful for the first time user. Not helpful for an advanced
user. Instructors seem to have standard phrases to use, lacks real-life
  experience.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  Yes. First Encounter, Nanoroute. So-so.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  Yes. Get2chip. Not very useful.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  Yes. Waste of time.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Brought our whole group in for Abstract. Were trained on an unreleased
version (3-4 months ago), now released. The instructor was great, and
very knowledgeable about the tool and what is needed in the real world.
Back at the shop the tool doesn't work as indicated. Cadence had trouble
  generating LEFs from our data.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Assura, AMS. They were very helpful

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  Y - OA adoption - very helpful

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

I had the Assura RCX developers class about a month ago. Very useful
class. I had a half a day training on Aptivia 3 weeks ago; also very
  useful.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Yes. Class was a workshop for ABV and it was helpful.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

I generally find training from Cadence a waste of time.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  Yes, SOCEncounter, so-so

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

So-so. Good data with a large dose of marketing B.S.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Yes, for SOCE. The classes were so-so.

Have you taken any Cadence Internet Learning Series classes in the

The Cadence Internet Learning Series classes were:

        very helpful: ############################# 57%
               so-so: ##################### 43%
       waste of time: 0%

  Never took any.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  Nope, no budget.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Yes. For NC4.1. I found the material to be quite well covered with many
  quizzes to keep you alert.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

No. The classes are Windows centric, Internet classes are poorly
supported in Solaris, and Linux (we are 100% Linux on the desktop).

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

I have not used internet learning.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

I have tried some ILS classes. They are okay for a novice user, but
doesn't cover advance topics well and setup of tools is not covered well.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  Constraint Manager. So-so.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Never took ILS series of classes

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Constraint Manager, high speed design. somewhat helpful

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

I have taken an online class, and the online documentation, examples and
labs are actually good, and have all worked.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

No. Didn't know they had any.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  Skill Programming. It was OK.
