(ICU 04 Item 8 ) ------------------------------------------------ [10/07/04]

Subject: comp.cad.cadence

GROUP THINK: Another little surprize that came out this survey was that
roughly 20% of Cadence users read the comp.cad.cadence newsgroup at least
occasionally. (When I did this survey, I purposely didn't run the questions
there to get a pure lower band of comp.cad.cadence readership -- asking on
comp.cad.cadence "Do you read comp.cad.cadence?" kind of guarentees an
absurdly high percentage of its readers.) Anyway, to quote one of this
survey's respondants about comp.cad.cadence, "It is nice to see what
problems other users are having and to have a place to ask them questions."

Do you ever read the comp.cad.cadence newsgroup (Y or N)? How often?

        Yes: ########## 21%

         No: ######################################## 79%

  Every day.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

I have looked at the comp.cad.cadence once. I don't read it.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Only occasionally. Once every few months. It's not that helpful.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Yes, daily. It is monitored by some Cadence guys who are pretty
responsive, but some of the best advice comes from other users. It is
very helpful to see what hinders other people.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

N, but I'm looking at it now.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Y - Occasionally. Especially if I'm investigating an issue.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Every few months or when I am looking for specifics...

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  Y. Approx once a month via Google searches.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

No. But good idea. If my company didn't have the most opressive firewall
on the planet, I might be able to do that. Maybe I'll read it through
  Deja-news, unless they've blocked that, too. ;)

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Nope. I did not know it existed. I guess I can visit it now.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  Yes. Very rarely.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  Once in a while.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Yes, I read the site daily. I save many of the discussions for future
reference or to solve current problems. It is nice to see what problems
other users are having and to have a place to ask them questions.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Did it some time ago, was very interesting, do not have the time anymore.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  Rarely.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

I actually read it on a weekly base and sometimes post answers as well.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Yes. Once a week, or if a problem pops up.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

comp.cad.cadence is sometimes very useful, thanks to Andrew Beckett
  and some other Cadence Gods.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  Yes, regularly

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  Y, once a quarter

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

No, was not aware it existed.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  Yes (once a week)

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  Used to, not lately
