Hi, John,
Please keep me anonymous as I don't wish to upset any EDA vendors.
Attended Cadence's SSV Summit back in November. Here's an update on what
they said about Tempus since you're so interested in it.
The beginning keynote by Anirudh Devgan. Not particularly noteworthy but
it was interesting to see the man, the myth, the legend, that everyone has
been talking about. He was not as tall as I expected but generally a
pretty charismatic fellow.

Then a presentation by Rich Trihy of GlobalFoundries. He talked about a
GF 28 nm SLP test chip called "Donar" with a quad-core Cortex A12. The
interesting part was they used Tempus to signoff the entire chip.
- The entire flow was done with Cadence which usually means it's
a packaged flow. I was surprised GlobalFoundries jumped on the
Tempus bandwagon so early.
- He talked about how Tempus physically aware timing optimization
helped them hit their timeline of 15 weeks from RTL to signoff.
- The A12 core in the design hit 2 GHz under nominal conditions.
He chatted up how Tempus was instrumental in the success of the chip and
that more details would be at ARM Techcon 2013.

I haven't heard whether Donar came back from the fab yet or if the silicon
is working, but I think this is a positive sign for the timing market. It
will be good to have a viable alternative PrimeTime.
