QUESTIONS FOR GARY SMITH

Since you're an analyst, for each of the EDA Big 3 plus Apache,
please say exactly what 1 to 3 things they're doing "right"
plus what 1 to 3 things they're doing wrong.

    Be specific but concise.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

    Gary:

How do you make accurate Market Trend reports since Synopsys
stopped reporting its detailed numbers to EDAC in 2011?

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

    To Gary and Jim:

Who's the worst customer a new EDA start-up can get?

Who's the best customer a new EDA start-up can get?

    Be specific and explain why?

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Why did Cadence just purchase Evatronix ?

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Ask Gary, Joe, and Jim if they believe in Cadence's new IP strategy.
Does Cadence have a chance against Synopsys DesignWare offerings?

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Does Cadence Tempus have a chance against the Primetime monopoly?

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

How do we incent the EDA vendors to make less buggy tools?
All we get are repeat empty promises to write better code.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Is it true that Apache is dissolving into Ansys? That 2013 will
be its last DAC? What do you think Andrew Yang will do next?

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

How do you see the transition from sophisticated high value ($$)
tools to larger volume of SW development tools as we supposedly
    move into more HW/SW co-design?

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

    Question for Gary Smith:

How and where do you perceive true Cluster Computing being used
in EDA? We (silicon design world) are still treated as outsiders
in cluster computing -- in spite of how it could solove some
    intense simulation and design problems.

Why don't EDA companies pursue HPC solutions today?

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

    Gary:

What do you think of C test generation (a la Breker) - worth it?
Time waster? Will this ever become mainstream?

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

    To Jim and Gary -

How has Magma being knocked out impacted EDA today?

Did SPICE and PNR tool prices go up as you two predicted?

How many different start-ups have you seen ex-LAVA employees
    pop up in?

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

    Gary and Jim -

What do you think about the CDNS vs. BDA lawsuit? Is Lip-Bu
    justified in your opinion?

What do you think about SNPS possibly suing Atoptech over
POCV licensing? Is Aart justified in your opinion?

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

    Gary:

What's the worst prediction you've ever made? How bad was it?

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Gary -- Is it true your son won't tell you when his baseball
games are for fear that you might shout from the stands?

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Ask Gary when he is going to retire.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----
