Subject: No surprise here -- most engineers dislike the MENT/EVE lawsuit

I like Wally but I hope this bites him back. Lawsuits are for losers.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  %$*#-ing lawyers! Hate those #$%-holes!

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

I have yet to see a lawsuit in our industry that had merit.

It's a ploy to have EVE burn cash needlessly.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

I'd like to hear more about this prior art Luc's talking about.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Luckily Luc has $60 million which makes him immune to this B.S.
The legal fees alone would kill a smaller company.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Why is Wally stooping to lawyer games with EVE? I respect him a lot
and this makes him look bad. Are Veloce sales down?

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  #$%@ lawsuits

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

The Mentor Legal Department gets bored if they're not kept busy with
  emulation/acceleration lawsuits.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Tell Luc that he's "arrived". You're not a real EDA company until
  after your first lawsuit.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

If EVE doesn't want to get sued, they shouldn't steal other company's
  ideas.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

We sure hope MENT loses this. If they win, every company making
commercial or (like us) homemade FPGA emulators with Xilinx parts
  will be in trouble.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

> No, EVE has never prepared itself to be acquired by Synopsys.

The EVE CEO is lying. Every start-up wants to be acquired.
The question is for how much money.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

> Could you please ask Lauro to explain the key points of Mentor's
> lawsuit against EVE. Please do not let Lauro go vague on this.

In their 12 years of business, EVE should have stockpiled their own
war chest of acceleration and emulation patents to stave off such
attacks. If Luc had done this, when Wally tried to sue for violating
MENT patents, Luc counter-sues for violating EVE patents. Both would
cross-license to settle. Then back to real business based on speed,
I/O, capacity, # of users, etc.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

John, the patents are a red herring. They're not the issue. It's
about spreading FUD to slow sales and stop Aart from acquiring EVE.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

"Why can't we all just get along?" :)

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Tell Lauro an old friend sends his congrats on his recently selling
Zebu boxes to both Texas Instruments and Fujitsu.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

I hate the courts, lawyers, judges, lawsuits -- all of it. They're
*@%&-ing parasites on the productive parts of the US economy.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

The only people who always win in court are the lawyers.
