Subject: User asks now what's the future of Mentor DK Design Suite/Handel-C?
Hi John,
With Mentor selling its Catapult C to Calypto, Mentor hasn't 100% left the
C-to-hardware business. They've still got DK Design Suite/Handel-C.
In 2009 (when Mentor acquired DK Design Suite) they announced then the tool
was end-of-life:
"Mentor is happy to work with Agility to provide its customers a
home that gives them full support for their legacy products until
they are ready to upgrade to Catapult C Synthesis on their own
terms and schedule."
But now it's 2011 and we read that they are making new developments on DK:
"Product Update
Since DK was acquired by Mentor, product development of DK has been
enhanced with regularly scheduled major releases and point releases
that include:
Major feature enhancements include cycle-accurate simulation
integration with ModelSim
New device support for Xilinx and Altera devices are available"

This doesn't sound much like end-of-life, does it?
So I'm wondering what Mentor's plans are with DK Design Suite/Handel-C? Are
they staying in the C-to-hardware market (with DK competing with CatC??) Or
what else? Do you have any idea of how this will work out?
