Q: How was this EDA user survey done?
A: The 2 question questionnaire was sent to 24,828 DeepChip readers
on Thursday, Feb. 10th, 2011. In addition, the questionnaire
was placed on the DeepChip home page. Responses were collected
from 7:00 AM 10 Feb 2011 to 11:00 AM 23 Feb 2011. EST.
The MENT Q4 '11 Earnings Release was on 24 Feb 2011. Its news
did not impact this survey.
Q: What types of responses did you get?
A: 251 EDA users
43 MENT rivals
13 MENT employees
4 "other"
Q: What's your margin of error?
A: +/- 5.7 percent
Q: Why are the results being published now, 11 March 2011?
A: I had to go through each response by hand to make sure each response
was from a legitimate EDA user, MENT rival, or MENT employee. I do
not use services like Survey Monkey because they can be "manipulated"
by those with unsavory agendas.
Q: What type of people are on the DeepChip email list?
A: The DeepChip.com mailing list has 24,828 engineer subscribers who are
predominantly chip designers and chip verification engineers. It's
a 19 year old opt-in list NOT driven by "Win a FREE iPad" offers.
