Subject: What's the status of Cadence ETS, Magma Tekton, Extreme DA?
Hi, John,
Please make me anon.
I need the current status of 3 possible viable alternatives to PrimeTime
for sign-off. Here's what I know and what I want to know from users:
1.) Are you familiar with the Cadence Encounter Timing System (ETS)?
I think Cadence launched it in 2006. I've not heard much since.
How well does it correlate to Synopsys PrimeTime? Can you use
ETS outside of Cadence-only flow? Have you done real production
sign-offs with it? Can it do SI analysis? SSTA? OCV? MCMM?
Memory use and run time compared to PrimeTime on the same chip?
How well does ETS and SPICE correlate? Does it need CDF libs?
Is ETS a replacement to PrimeTime? Or a run-along-with-PT tool?
2.) Magma Tekton lauched at DAC'10. Magma claimed then that Tekton
was 100X faster than PrimeTime, did multi-threading, MCMM, OCV,
SI, SSTA and ECO's. That was 6 months ago. Since then I have
not been able to find any customer mention of it outside of the
Magma company web site. Is Tekton repackaged QuartzTime? Is
anyone using Tekton? Are the claims true? Anyone do a sign-off
with it yet? What is its correlation vs. PrimeTime & SPICE?
Can Tekton replace PrimeTime? Or is it a run-along-with-PT tool?
3.) Extreme-DA GoldTime launched in 2007. I found an anonymous early
adopter benchmark in http://www.deepchip.com/items/0479-02.html
but it's 23 months old. What has happened since then? Do they
have paying customers? Who? Anyone do production sign-off yet?
Is this a viable PT replacement or a run-along-with-PT tool?
Please don't send web links to EDA company marketing materials. We know
how that works. My 13 year old son puts up press releases about how great
his imaginary rock band is on his own web page. No, thanks.
I need to know what the users are seeing today with these three possible
PrimeTime replacements.
