Subject: We transitioned from Dassault DesignSync to IC Manage in 3 days

Hi, John,

Anon please.

I know you like real life transition stories, so I thought I'd share ours
going from Dassault DesignSync to IC Manage GDP. It took 3 days to convert
our design data for two in-process designs from the DesignSync form into
IC Manage form.

Below is our step-by-step process for converting the data. We ran each of
the steps, unless I state otherwise.

  1. Project structure set up -- 4 hours

We discussed how we wanted our design data and project structure
organized with the local IC Manage AE, who set up our project
structure using IC Manage's Project Manager functionality.

  2. Data Export -- 2 hours

We exported our DesignSync design data from the DesignSync "Vault"
(centralized data repository) by clicking on DesignSync's ExportVault
command. This utility took our DesignSync data (files, version
history, user information) and put them into DesignSync format in
     a central location.

  3. Data Expansion -- 2 hours

Next we expanded the DesignSync data back into the original format
for each version of each file for the chip's database. We used
IC Manage's Custom Data Expansion utility which calls on DesignSync
STCLC to expand the binary DesignSync data back to the actual file,
in this case the Cadence CDB.

  4. Data Import -- 2 hours

The IC Manage AE came onsite and imported each of our expanded file
versions into IC Manage's Depot (centralized data repository) using
IC Manage's Data Import utility .

  5. Data Verify -- 1 hour

Next the IC Manage AE ran their Data Verify utility onsite which took
5 minute runtime. This verified that the specified imported IC Manage
data matched our original DesignSync data. We then reviewed some of
the data manually to double check to see for ourselves if it matched.
     It did.

  6. On-site user training by IC Manage's AE -- 2 hours

Since we had two designs, we ran steps 2-5 twice. The process went smoothly
and we completed the conversions for both designs over a period 3 days.

At that point our engineers switched to using the IC Manage Cadence Library
Manager -- which is a clone of the Cadence Library Manager but it has
built-in revision control and configuration management stuff added in.
