Subject: Mike Santarini's farwell to covering EDA as he joins Xilinx PR
Hey John,
I just wanted to let you know that on Monday, 3/31 I started my new gig as
Publisher/Senior Manager, Xcell Journal & Editorial Services at Xilinx.
I'm in the Worldwide Communications group here in the San Jose HQ.
I want to extend a big thanks to you and to everyone else in the design
community (designers, vendors, financial folks, editors and colleagues) who
sent their regards and well-wishes after I was laid off from EDN in mid-Feb.
It sucked at first but then a few days later I got a call from Lisa
Washington. I'm really excited about my new opportunity here at Xilinx;
lots of really great folks and familiar faces here, including, but not
limited to: Lisa, Ivo Bolsens, Bruce Fienberg, Mark Bowlby, Vin Ratford,
and -- oh yeah -- Moshe Gavrielov, whom I haven't seen smiling this wide
since the day he made Verisity the IPO leader back in 2002. (He's got some
nice shoes, too, but he doesn't know what brand.)
In my new gig, I will be focusing on giving Xcell Journal a deeper technical
focus (even more hands-on, how-to type stuff to help Xilinx users get
projects done and of course in turn buy more Xilinx chips). One of my first
stops, hopefully, is Xilinx' Technical Sales Conference, where I hope to
learn the top problems our FAEs are hearing from customers. I then hope to
create an editorial calendar to address those user issues.
