Subject: Did Atoptech win plus Magma & Synopsys lose a big P&R benchmark?

Hi John,

I've heard tell of a big place-and-route benchmark that one of the larger
Left Coast companies ran.  I heard it turned out:

                            1. Atoptech
                            2. Cadence
                            3. Sierra
                            4. Magma
                            5. Synopsys

I imagine these results would cause much gnashing of teeth at both Magma and
Synopsys.  Who are these Atoptech guys?  Is this just startup luck, or are
they for real?  What was the design?  What was the criteria for eval?

Could your extensive network of readers add any details to this, John?
