Subject: What would Users Change about Apache

THE VOODOO QUESTION (PART I) -- People laugh at it at first, but the answers
tell you an awful lot about what Apache needs to fix!

"A voodoo priestess formerly from New Orleans swaps your soul with
Andrew Yang, the CEO of Apache. Even though you were a Apache customer
before, now that *you* are the new CEO of Apache:

What 2 or 3 things about Apache would you DEFINITELY change?"

Try to improve run time and possibly parallelize the vectorless
analysis. Try to remove some of the pessimism out of vectorless.

Team up with a few other startups to create better flows, like thermal
analysis that Gradient is doing with VoltageStorm integration.

Adding bindkeys for navigation and correcting a few bugs to be able to
save GIF images of the IR drop map with the expected frame.

Create a free customer training center in Hawaii.

    1) Merge with Magma
    2) Multi (greater than 2) CPU support

    I'd change nothing, but we are only doing static and dynamic analysis;
we are not using all the tool's features

Perfect the core functions, APL, DvD, Static IR drop, I/O SSO SI. Show
yield results when RedHawk is used over time. Apache could provide a
graph compiling the accupower numbers vs. ASIC measured power across
many designs, so that we can better assess their accupower (i.e. power
    calculation) accuracy.

        - Lief Erickson of VikingStarTech, Inc.

Add some features to the GUI of RedHawk.

        - [ An Anon Engineer ]

    Not sure.

        - Syed Huq of Cisco Systems

I would provide the complete power solution (architecture, RTL,
simulation, DFT, package etc.) This is very much needed when we
go to 65, 45 nm and below.

        - [ An Anon Engineer ]

Promote more partnership with other EDA vendors. Right now RedHawk
is essentially a point tool in a non-closed loop flow. Our signoff flow
involves STA, SI and closing such in a place and route environment.
CoolTime attempts to solve the bigger picture, but doesn't yet generate
the results we want. Right now, Apache has one piece of the puzzle...
they are darn good at it, but their strategy of staying an independent
signoff tool for power relies on Cadence, Magma and Synopsys failing to
provide an integrated solution, rather than them providing a
    best-in-class solution.

        - [ An Anon Engineer ]

Make vertical solution based on strong physical one (RTL and up)
