Cadence is going to end of line Ambit soon.
RTL Compiler is from Get2Chip and it includes scan replacement capability
for free. This is like Synopsys DFT Compiler's "compile -scan". Synopsys
is charging a lot for that while Cadence is giving it for free.
Synopsys DC, DFT Compiler, PhysOpt and so on are going through a major
change called XG-mode. Moving from the old db mode to the new XG-mode
means all the scripts have to be changed. This is a great opportunity
for customers to look at alternate great solution such as Cadence
RTL Compiler, Magma Blast Tool suite. After all, the new XG-mode has
many bugs. It is also a great opportunity for Magma and Cadence to
increase their market shares.
DFT Compiler MAX is a scan compression technology target at stopping
Mentor Graphics from taking away their market shares. Mentor Graphics's
TestKompress is a proven compression technology and is taking away
market shares from Synopsys DFT Compiler SoCBIST. TestKompress is very
easy to use and Mentor provides great support.
Cadence Encounter Test Solution has the best diagnostics technology
in the market. One problem is with their documentation, which is very
hard to understand, only the old IBMers will be able to understand it.
Also, Cadence needs better marketing people to market this great product.
Macintosh has a better architecture than PC, however, PC has the greater
market shares. This is because Intel has very powerful marketing team
and they know how to market their products.
The third problem with Cadence is the quality of Cadence's FAE needs
to be improved. Their FAEs are bad and slow at following up.
