Hi, John,
I know you are probably busy finding out all Magma/Synopsy episodes at
this moment. But you may be also interested in hearing how a small guy
like Silicon Canvas is being pushed by a desperate Cadence out of their
Connection Program. It is not surprising to us that we were being rejected
in the past with our custom layout tool, Laker, because Cadence is scared
to death of competition. Our most recent ordeal is that Cadence rejected
our application to integrate their Spectre circuit simulator with our AMS
schematic entry.
We submitted our application with 3 reference accounts including Marvell
and two others, as Cadence required. Their reason for rejection? "We
don't just look at the reference accounts; we look beyond the submitted
reference accounts and we don't see there is any great need for this
integration," according to Ken Nakano. What a crap answer! And what a
desperate action and unfair practice from big guy like Cadence! If the
number of seats in Marvell do not qualify to be "SIGNIFICANT", I don't
know who else will qualify!!!
