Subject: Richard Goering, EEdesign.com, Mike Santarini, and EE Times Print
Hi, John,
I noticed last month Mike Santarini left EE Times. Last week Clive Maxwell
joined SoCcentral.com. Is your friend Richard Goering redundant? They
disolved his EEdesign.com web site last week. Why?

Gayatri, I'm not sure what you mean by the phrase "redundant"? Redundant
means too many people, yes? Please clarify.
I have no idea why the EE Times folks killed off the EEdesign.com web
site. Maybe they want to turn back the clock so people get their EDA news
from their print edition? I don't know. I'll forward this email to
Goering to get his thoughts.

Is Goering about to retire or be laid off? Redundant is UK English for US
laid off.

Hi, John,
In response to Gayatri, I am aware of no imminent plans for my retirement
or layoff. Whether or not I've been "redundant" for all these years is
another question.
EE Times did not "kill" EEdesign. What's happened is that EEdesign has
become more closely integrated with EE Times on-line. Far from
disappearing, however, EEdesign now has even more prominence with an
"EEdesign news and solutions" section right on the EE Times home page.
You'll find it below the "latest news" section at http://www.eet.com.
Going one level deeper, an EEdesign sub-page lists news stories categorized
by day and story type, which is something we didn't have before. Resources
from the old site, including archives and the open-source EDA directory,
are under the "design resources" section on the right.
Meanwhile, I should note that we have hired a new web editor who will help
us increase our on-line EDA coverage. He's Dylan McGrath, formerly of
Electronic News, and he's starting the week of March 28.
