Subject: What Metrics Realistically Measure an ASIC Designer's Output?

Hi John,

Do you have any metrics data for ASIC designers? I'm looking for something
like what is available for software engineers (# lines per engineer per
day, etc...). I am sure there are many different ways to measure an ASIC
designer's work output and I suspect they all have issues. I am battling
with some others at work on the amount of effort/people required to
implement a hardware vs. software solution. Any data your readers are
willing to share would be of great interest. Thanks!
