Hi, John,

Until Congress passes a "Truth in Signal Integrity Tools Act", the rule for
customers looking for an SI tools should be Caveat Emptor (Buyer Beware).

TI's signoff tool is PrimeTime-SI. Shailendra Dhuri of TI presented a
paper at San Jose SNUG'05 last week explaining in detail their
PrimeTime-SI sign-off qualification process.

AMCC also uses PrimeTime SI to sign-off their designs, as Todd Hawes
explained in your SNUG'04 Trip Report, Item 14.

I agree that using Blast Noise or Astro-Xtalk during implementation helps
avoid many signal integrity problems. What I'm wondering though is why a
customer like Conexant decided to use PrimeTime-SI in an Ambit/Magma flow?

Could it be that they have discovered that they needed a SIGN-OFF solution
in order to ensure their chip will work? The fact is 4 out of the 5 users
mentioned in Magma's response use PrimeTime-SI for sign-off.
