Hi, John,
As you know I tend to live on the polygon side of the world, but it appears
that the Synopsys compile_new_optimization technique is an improperly
implemented Magma algorithm for Gain Based Synthesis. In its place, Gain
Based produced very different results from DC and, in a lot of cases, a
smaller design.
If Jagen wants to check out the algorithm working to produce results, he
should come to the Magma User Group show in September and talk to guys
getting success with the tool. In the race to have the best synthesis
tool it looks like Synopsys was caught in the pits and Magma's Blast Create
may have slipped into the lead.
