Hi, John,

In your ESNUG 427 #4, you asked who the end-users were that were using
OpenAccess-based design tools/systems, and who the EDA vendors were that
were building interfaces to OA. Right now we have:

  1) 19 announced OA-based tools or tool suites from 12 EDA vendors
  2) 3 different major end-user companies with 4 OA-based tools/flows
  3) 24 current members in the OpenAccess Coalition.

I know that you want me to "name names", so here they are...

EDA Vendors with Announced OA-based tools:

  - BindKey: RapiDesignClean
  - Cadence: Encounter Digital IC platform, Virtuoso, DFM Solutions
  - ClioSoft: SOS
  - IC Manage: IC Manage
  - In2Fab: ISIS, OSIRIS, GLADE
  - MEMScAP: MEMS Explorer
  - Mentor Graphics: Calibre
  - MicroEDA: MicroVerify Suite
  - PDF Solutions: pDfx
  - Sagantec: SiClone, Companion, Anaconda, SiFix
  - Silicon Canvas: Laker
  - Synchronicity: DesignSync DFII

End-User Companies with Production OA-enabled Tools:

 1. LSI, Bloomington, MN & Milpitas, CA

RapidWorx: OA-based design kit -- contains mix of vendor and internal
tools. In production, 180/130 nm chips designed and taped-out in
    RapidWorx shipped to customers.

      - RapidBuilder: Automated configuration of memories, I/O's, etc
      - RapidView: Graphical viewer and editor
      - RapidCheck: Gate-level netlist verification
      - OA to/from Milkyway Bridge: Python-based

 2. LSI, Milpitas, CA

In production, chip package designs underway

      - Packaging Tool: Tool to design the packaging of chips on packages

 3. HP, Ft. Collins, CO and Cupertino, CA

In production, 90 nm chip designs underway

      - SP&R Flow: Includes in-house tools and tools from multiple vendors

 4. Fujitsu, San Jose, CA

    In production inside Fujitsu

      - Feather: Internally developed layout viewer

OAC Member Companies:

  Artisan LogicVision ST Microelectronics
  Cadence LSI Logic Sun Microsystems
  CiraNova Mentor Graphics Synchronicity
  ClioSoft PDF Solutions Synplicity
  Freescale Semiconductor Philips Semiconductors Tektronix
  Hewlett-Packard Renesas Technology Verisity
  IBM Sagantec
  IC Manage Silicon Canvas
  Intel Silicon Navigator

Negotiations and work is underway with several more, and if you ask again
next year, we expect to report many more names on every list above.
