Subject: Questions Primarily For Rajeev

Rajeev/Bernie - why are you guys here at DVcon? you don't have any
                verification products, or do you?
              - when are you going to buy Nassda (big public verification
company)? Don't you see an Avanti/Synopsys like marriage
here (buyer buys insurance)? Or do you guys not believe
                in buying insurance?
              - What was wrong with Axis? Why didn't you guys buy it.

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Rajeev - You really are gunning for the #2 spot. Mentor would get you a
simulator, and golden DRC checker. When will Roy let you buy Mentor ?

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Is anyone wondering what this latest Magma announcement is all about?
http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/040224/245978_1.html

So who are these Mojave Inc people? Well, the article refers to the
founders as Vivek Raghavan, John Lee and Murat Alaybeyi. A bit of
googling reveals them as former students of Ron Rohrer. And, err,
hasn't Ron had a strong connection with Magma, although the
current Magma website has completely hidden these links? And what
technology exactly are Mojave providing for all this cash?

I'd Rajeev if he's finding novel ways to pay off his friends or debtors
(the Indian Mafia) .

Q1) Please relay an over seas out-sourcing success or horror story
Q2) For Rajeev Madhaven are there any engineers with enough RTL expertise
and enough backbend expertise to effectively run your tool, or will it
always take an RTL expert and a layout expert!

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

1) To Magma

Ratio of Physical Synthesis/Logic Synthesis in the years ahead? More and
more users are relying on the information from the backend tools in IC
Design Engineering - several flows including critical IC components like
DFT looking forth to Extraction based tools -

3) To Mentor/Magma

When we are looking at 2 mutually exclusive dominant players like Magma
and Mentor out in the market, wouldn't a strategy of merging help them
both? Or is it off forever?

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Rajeev - Do you think the risk appetite of the EDA CEO's is increasing.
SNPS bought MOSY at a 93% premium and you bought a company with no product.
Is this the return of big bets environment?

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Do Magma's revenues represent growth in the P&R space or are they just
revenue won from existing Cadence and Synopsys/Avant! customers ?

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

For MAGMA: Now that you started to get market share in the digital flow
are you planning to get into the full custom design too? If yes, what
kind of flows/tools do you envision you want to beat? (I.E. Virtuoso,
COSMOS, Laker, etc.) If not, why somebody will have 2 different tool
sets and need an interface for database back and forward between
the 2 worlds?

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

7. Is there any talk of Magma and Mentor merging?
