Editor's Note: I normally don't send out such large, single subject ESNUG
posts, but this one is an exception. I was very excited to get this email
on PhysOpt PDEF 3.0 to/from Avanti Scheme scripts for two reasons:

1.) Instead of this being a user *complaint* about interoperabilty
(where we're all equally frustrated about what to do), this is
someone actively *solving* the interoperabilty problem. I want
to encourage getting more e-mail like this.

2.) Avanti is a goldmine of EDA tools and technology. In ESNUG we
very openly discuss Synopsys (obviously) bugs/issues/etc. and
Cadence bugs/issues/etc. and lots of other smaller EDA vendor
bugs/issues -- but we very rarely see any Avanti discussion. At
DAC this year, I met with some of the Avanti bigwigs about
getting more Avanti oriented discussion going in ESNUG. I'm
hoping this helps kickstart that process.

So if you find errors (or if you find anything useful) in these Scheme
scripts, write me. If you have some Apollo or Planet or Saturn or any
other Avanti tool issue/bug/gripe/whatever, write me. ESNUG is *user*
driven. And if 50 percent of my backend users are using Avanti tools,
Avanti tools should damn well be discussed in detail here, too!

Hi John,

Here are some Scheme scripts that enable data to move between Avanti and
PhysOpt. I think they will work for Chip Architect and Flexroute as well.
These scripts seem to work for my company, but I would guess that other
folks may have to modify them to make them work at their site.

Please note, I didn't create these scripts so I won't support them.

Share and enjoy,

    - ASIC Designer #8
