Subject: Amit on Solido versus MunEDA in the SPICE variation tool market
DAC'15 Troublemakers Panel in San Francisco, CA

Amit: The other thing we see that's interesting is the ultra-low
power designs with IoT and wearables. So it's not just the
leading edge nodes anymore. There are lot more designs in
being done in the mature nodes and then that's driving...
you know for us being a variation tool vendor, there's a
lot less margin at the ultra power low nodes not just the
advanced nodes. And there's a lot more SPICE simulation that
needs to get done, more licenses that need to be used to
get that kind of SPICE coverage.

Cooley: Speaking of variations, let me see it's Solido vs MunEDA...
           Who's winning?

Amit: Ha ha, well we are of course, right?

     Dean: Who's on the panel?

   Cooley: Solido's CEO, ok...

Amit: In your survey John, you did a survey back 2014 on best tools
of DAC, I think we won (DAC'14 #4) for the variation tool
vendor leadership by a wide, wide margin compared to all the
competition. You know the reason, the reasons why we hear
customers coming to us instead of the competition: one is
technology, for sure other is ease of use, but the third
is we're not just focused on the analog segment or the
memory segment we built out a platform that addresses all
these areas in custom visual whether...

Cooley: MunEDA has a base I saw their users group reports. They
           have a ton of customers.

Amit: Yeah but look at your survey, though, on data, John right?
Your own survey showed that we were...

Cooley: Now that's a difference of what you see at DAC and...

Hogan: Wait a second. Do you read your own reports?

Cooley: I write them, I don't read them.

Hogan: Yeah, I mean look they're around. (I'll speak for Amit for
a second, right.) They're around, they've been around. They,
MunEDA, got a product that if you're a PhD from Germany you
can probably run it. And you know discover some variation
perhaps. It's East Germany. [ audience laughs] And so if
you want, if you're a mere mortal perhaps you would consider
           something else... (like Solido.)

Cooley: I'd like to put a disclaimer in here that Hogan is on
Solido's board, so just in case you don't know that.

Hogan: Did I forget to mention that?

Sawicki: And if you're German with a PhD, that was a compliment...
           I think.
