Subject: Some users and EDA vendors/followers comment on Rajeev's fate

"I'd like to hear what you think of this SNPS-LAVA merger. Is it
good news for you? Bad news? Neutral? Why do you think this?"

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

I'm mad at Rajeev. He gave his word the Volcano database would never
die. We have years of legacy designs we'll lose. F%$%-ing BAD!

      - [ An Anon Engineer ]

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  Bad.

Buying from Magma was a conversation with Rajeev, who called all
  the shots in Magma.

Buying from Synopsys is a conversation with a salesman who says
anything you want to hear plus he lacks any clout inside Synopsys.

      - [ An Anon Engineer ]

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  Bad.

It's sad to lose Rajeev. He's one of the few guys who openly
  speaks his mind in EDA.

Aart used to be open, too, before he got all polished up.

      - [ An Anon Engineer ]

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  Bad.

Rajeev was honest about his opinions vs. a corp marketing Aart.

This again proves how ruthless bland-and-steady beats out tech
  passion and talent.

  I'll miss him.

      - [ An Anon Engineer ]

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

We trusted Rageev. Now we'll be at the mercy of Synopsys sales sleazes.

  BAD!

      - [ An Anon Engineer ]

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

It is good news because Magma product offerings will be from Synopsys.

As far as Rajeev and certain talented LAVA team members are concerned,
they are going to be an asset to SNPS because of domain knowledge and
  experience.

      - [ An Anon Engineer ]

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

I wonder what would be the Next Big Thing coming from Rajeev?

      - [ An Anon Engineer ]

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  Bad.

I liked buying off of Rajeev. It was much more of a human process
than the commission driven sales guys in the Big Three.

      - [ An Anon Engineer ]

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Magma sales will die for the next 6 months. What will Synopsys be
getting at that point? Rajeev was highly involved in Magma sales.
You drop him and where is Magma??

      - [ An Anon EDA Vendor ]

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

It's pretty hard to imagine Rajeev clocking in at Synopsys every day,
  isn't it?

      - Dylan McGrath of EEtimes.com

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Rajeev's fate doubtful ????? You've got to be kidding! :)

      - Gary Smith of Gary Smith EDA

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

Will Rajeev wind up in an office next to Aart (under 1% chance), or will
he take the money and start a new company (90%+ chance) after he gets
back from vacation in Bali? My money's on a new Rajeev company.

      - John Donovan of Low-PowerDesign.com

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

The way I look at it, Rajeev just made a fortune again and is free
  from the EDA industry.

  His 'fate' is looking great.

      - [ An Anon EDA Vendor ]

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

First of all: "Rajeev's fate doubtful"? Really? The dude must have
milllions of dollars. I didn't check the SEC filings of insider
selling, but unless he's got a penchant for the ponies, Rajeev should
have a huge nest-egg to fall back on.

In fact, a guy like him, he just cant sit on the sidelines. It could
be good news. He could start a new EDA company!

      - [ An Anon EDA Vendor ]

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

  This is good for:

  - Rajeev, hopefully he will get a break & think in a different way

  - the employees.  Magma wasn't a a fun place to work after the law
suit... no jokes, this is from personal there.  There was way too
    much unrealistic pressure in LAVA.

  - the EDA industry.  There were way too many players in the P&R
market, giving pricing advantage to customers.

  This is bad for:

  - the ex-SNPS folks who moved to LAVA last year. I heard SNPS doesn't
    like such people.

This merger should have happened long back.

      - [ An Anon EDA Vendor ]

         ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----

"I believe that within five years only two EDA companies will survive.
We will therefore be one of these two big companies, or we will have
been bought by one of them."

       - Rajeev Madhavan, Magma CEO at the Silicom Ventures LLC
summit in Israel on June 30th, 2008
