Subject: 6 Users Think Cadence Will Give Specman "e" Better Support
> Cadence announced it's buying Verisity for $285 million in cash.
>
> As an EDA user, do you think this is good news or bad news? Why?
Maybe it means we will be getting better support. We have not had
great support from Verisity over the last couple of years. A switch
to Cadence might help.

This is good news. We have a strong Verification/Validation environment
built around the NC simulator and assertion products from Cadence and
Specman and the Axis boxes from Verisity. If Cadence can unify the
databases and interfaces for these products we will have a far more
productive environment.

Good news for me. As an engineer in the 3rd world where we always
lack sufficient vendor support, I believe the fewer EDA methodologies
available, the better.

I think this merger is a good idea.
From a licensing point of view, we have a Cadence pool and can remix
licenses according to requirements. That gives the user a lot of
flexibility and makes access to tools easier in a money-tight budget
environment.
Cadence has a very good customer support network and Verisity can sure
benefit from the huge FAE pool.

As an EDA user it's a good news provided they take some corrective
steps in terms of support.

I feel it is good news because as a standalone company selling a single
product, Verisity was not flexible in terms of its licensing model.
Also, we saw a lot of attrition of their staff, so their AE kept
changing frequently. Being part of a larger company will, hopefully,
give it more stability. Also, as a small company, it was difficult to
negotiate with them since they did not have much to offer in terms of
products.
