Subject: 4 Users Vaguely Happy About The Cadence-Verisity Merger

> Cadence announced it's buying Verisity for $285 million in cash.

> As an EDA user, do you think this is good news or bad news? Why?

Good (but a little bit late), because it's an answer to Synopsys
    growing.

I think the Verisity purchase will be good. At last year's DAC, I saw
a presentation of Specman Elite and was quite curious and impressed by
it - from a demo stand-point. Since my company is on a tight budget
for tool licenses and limited to buying from a couple of vendors,
mostly (with a lot of hassle to even look at other vendors' tools),
it is useful to see that a tool like Specman Elite could be a lot
more accessible to us without major extra cost or hassle.

I think this is a good news for short term that Verisity will have
stronger backing that may increase market share. For long term,
it's uncertain how Cadence will package Verisity tools together,
    There are redundent features.

I think it's good for Cadence since I'm a Cadence user. I hope this
will improve their verification capability in simulation and emulation
and thus improve the user's verification.
