Subject: DC_Ultra/PhysOpt 2003.06-SP1 Crashes w/ compile_new_optimization

I am one of your "ghost" readers.
Using DC_Ultra/PhysOpt 2003.06-SP1, we have tried "compile_new_optimization
true" together with "set_ultra_optimization true". These new algorithms
are invoked only if you have the DC_Ultra license and you use it with
"effort high".
We found out that there is some improvement for some blocks, mainly
data path blocks. The main problem is that DC/PhysOpt has crashed a lot
with the compile_new_optimization option and so we decided that in the
general flow it will be set to false. I know that Synopsys has an opened
STAR on this. (The crashes were with DC/PhysOpt 2003.06-SP1. As for
2003.12-SP1, they may have fixed it already.)
Anyway, you can check for yourself if there is an improvement when you
set these flags to true.
Please note that the library you are using needs to support this and you
should NOT get the following information message: OPT-220.
