Subject: Help! Virtual Silicon Memory Compilers Only Run On Sun Machines!?

Hi, John,

I have just updated our front-end design libs from Virtual Silicon for UMC.

To my disappointment, I see that the memory compilers still only run on
SPARC-based systems. We got rid of every single Sun we had over 3 years
ago and have been running on Linux only.

Why are the memory compilers still only available for SPARC systems? What
do other people do for this? Just go and buy a Sun? Do the library
vendors get kickbacks from Sun?

Today I got an email from Virtual Silicon's tech support suggesting I might
be able to run on Linux as their memory compilers are written in Java.
However, all I see are a bunch of SPARC executables. Anybody able to run
their memory compiler on Linux?

Why don't they create a simple web based interface to their memory compilers
so that users on ANY platform can create memories ?

Any suggestions appreciated !
