Subject: Most Obtuse Presentations -- InTime Software, iModl, SDV
WHO'S ON FIRST? There's a few companies at this year's DAC that befuddled
almost everyone who saw their demo. My question is why spend the money
giving demos at DAC if you don't have a message to give customers? My "Lost
At DAC" experience came with SDV. I was completely lost as to what SDV sold
or how their supposed tool worked. Their presenter seemed to assume that
everyone knows network protocols like the the back of their hands. I don't,
so I was lost, lost, lost. I spend 20 minutes trying to understand him, but
he couldn't think outside of the network protocol box. Oh, well. I finally
got it when I read:
"SDV makes a "scenario manager". You define bus functional models and
describe how they work either with waveforms or tables, and the tool
then provides stimulus and checks results through PLI for Verilog or
through C with Leapfrog."

"Biggest waste of floor space - Intime Software - [ name deleted ] and
I sat through their floor presentation which was about 10 minutes
long. After hearing it, we were no closer to understanding what their
product(s) are than we were before their show. A total waste of time."

"iModl - Bus-functional models with control/testbench tool.
Their explanation of how to coodinate data generation, parallel control
streams, and user-defined bus-functional models was not very clear."
- Janick Bergeron of Qualis (VG 1.13)
"* Company presentation that conveyed the least information: InTime"

"InTime Software - still can't figure out what their mission in life is."
