Subject: The Hotel, Red Sox, Vermont Inns
FALL FOLIAGE: To many Boston natives it was quite a surprise to see how
many distant out-of-towners came in for Boston SNUG. At first we felt it
was because Boston was becoming a second "Silicon Valley" to the real
Silicon Valley in California... (Yes!) Then we remembered it was Fall
foliage season and an awful lot of engineers had brought their wives
along for a romantic weekend after the Boston SNUG had ended... :^(
"One of the nice perks about presenting at the Boston SNUG was getting
to go to a Major League Baseball game: Boston Red Sox vs. Cleveland
Indians - a game full of playoff implications for both teams. One of
the game highlights was a 2 run homer pounded over "the monster" in
left field by DH, Dante Bichette, that gave the Red Sox a solid 4-1
lead in the third inning.
In all, its hard to imagine a better conference or a nicer trip.
Before the conference, my wife and I enjoyed a brief sojourn in the New
England area. The weather was great; the scenery beautiful. We saw a
lot of covered bridges too. If you are ever in Vermont, we highly
recommend the Maple Leaf Inn. http://www.mapleleafinn.com/"

"The location of the SNUG hotel got mixed reviews. 10 percent loved
it. 10 percent hated it. Seems like it was the locals hating it and
everyone else loved it. Traffic was bad in the mornings. If we use
the same hotel next year, we can look at starting sessions later in
the morning."
