Subject: Sun's StarOffice Stupid Hidden File Messes Up Multi-User Install

John, keep me anon if you use this.

Have you tried installing Sun's StarOffice?

The download is a single executable file. One runs this file & it installs
the program. However, the default installation is a single user, which
seems a pretty stupid default for any Unix or Unix-like machine. You would
think that Sun would know this!

The installation program creates a file with installation instructions (yes,
the instructions are only there AFTER running the install!) Their install
instructions tell you how to perform a multi-user install. HOWEVER, what
they don't tell you is that the first installation created a HIDDEN FILE in
your home directory which prevents further installations from being run.

What were they thinking at Sun when they created this?
