Hi John,

I would like to inform your ESNUG readers about PowerArc, which is an
automated cell library power characterization tool from Synopsys. PowerArc
performs automatic and accurate power characterization of a variety cells
types including standard cells, IOs and memories and generates the standard
library (.lib) directly.

The key benefit of using PowerArc is primarily due to its accuracy,
automation and efficiency. PowerArc is based on the transistor-level
simulation technology provided by EPIC's PowerMill/ACE. It's roughly
10x faster than SPICE-based characterization tools.
