Subject: HELP -- We've Thrashed For TWO WEEKS Trying To Install DC 98.02 !!!
Please, John,
We are having tremendous difficulty installing our Synopsys Design Compiler
1998.02 release. At a repeatable point in the install script, a directory
is not being created properly, after that things really goes to hell.
Eventually, the UNIX file system for our drive partition gets corrupted,
which causes all sorts of other problems. The first time we were able to get
the UFS restored, now the second time it looks like things are locked up real
good. Not unexpectedly, Synopsys says this is an OS problem, Sun says this
is an application install problem.
Admittedly, we are not UNIX or Synopsys power users, but we're not stupid
either, we've been following the directions and doing prudent things. This
is getting to be very frustrating, it's taken us two weeks to come full
circle, and it's not long before installing the tool is on our critical
path. Neither Sun nor Synopsys has come through with a lot of help yet.
Anybody else seen a similar problem? Any hints on getting either of these
companies to help us with our whopping ONE license each?
