Subject: VCS No Longer Waits For Licences? That SUCKS Big Time!

From: [ An Abe Lincoln Wannabe ]

John,

Please keep me ANONYMOUS on this posting.

QUESTION: Why is it that after Synopsys purchased ViewLogic, the latest
release of VCS doesn't appear to have the old ability to wait for license
availability? Is it possible that somebody wants to force users to buy
more licenses?

Hi John!

I have to be Anonymous on this, but you should know that...

The new rev. of now synopsys's VCS doesn't wait for a license any more, this
ability allowed a larger number of users to use fewer licenses of VCS
(queing theory) the runs which are started wait for a license then run. Now
they fail saying "No license". I'm sure this increases the number of
license needed by many eng. groups. More $$$ for Synopsys I suppose that
they need to do this to get return on the 1/2 billion dollar cost of
ViewLogic.
